Mine was 18-270 and was fine. The closest you are the bears are 25 feet. You can look at my photos on etbtravelphotography to get an idea if you want. Look under Alaska

This was organized and led by experienced Captain Mel Erickson. The boat departs from a town on Katchemack Bay, about 1/2 drive north of Homer. Captain Mel led us to view the bears and guided us at all times. It must be reserved and paid in advance. The aditional advantage is that it’s about half the price of fly-in tours. An I loved the whole experience. You can contact Capt Mel at 1 800-320-2980 and 1-907-398-1744
