This Natural Guide is an attempt to include information about the flora and fauna of the Broad River watershed. We have used sources available to us to compile lists of plants and animals within the watershed or within counties of the Broad River watershed.

The Broad River basin is home to 15 rare aquatic and wetland-dwelling animal and plant species. Two aquatic animals that are listed as threatened by the State of North Carolina are the bog turtle and the mussel, creeper. The Green Salamander is also listed by the state as endangered.
