Jun 9, 2021 · The other thing to keep in mind is that within a given beer style (e.g., Amber Ale) there will indeed be some subtle differences from Brand X vs. Brand Y. It well may be that for the Red Ale you are referencing it is more of a brand variation vs. a style variation aspect.
Light Beer, Residual Sugar, and Ale vs. Lager | BeerAdvocate
Even with what I consider to be the most flavorful beer tagged as a “light beer,” Samuel Adams Light, which has 124 calories per 12-ounce serving, it’s still only 36 calories less than Samuel Adams Boston Lager. So the answer to your question is a big NO.
The differences between lagers, pilsners, stouts, porters, ales?
Mar 3, 2014 · Also welcome to the BA site. I don't know how many different styles are listed on the BA styles page, but for a new guy, to keep from being overwhelmed, I'll recommend that you concentrate on IPAs, Pale Ales, Porters, Stouts (including Imperial Stouts), and Pilsners (or in general, light lagers which is a general description that includes Pilsners).
Lagers vs. Ales | Community - BeerAdvocate
May 30, 2005 · When I drink a beer that is in the lager family, I don't think about any lager characteristics in that particular beer. I just know that beer's style and I'm enjoying it (hopefully). Pale Ale VS Session | Community - BeerAdvocate
Apr 25, 2016 · Generally speaking I would say a beer named a session ipa would sell more than a pale ale, but what matters most is that the damn beer is good. Two examples that come to mind are Treehouse Erueka (4% blonde ale) and Nightshift Whirpool (4.5% pale ale), which are both essentially session ales/session ipas.

That's why the same beer would be called Bitter when on draught and Pale Ale when bottled. In the Good Beer Guides from the late 1970's and early 1980's, a large number of Bitters are listed as PA, the brewhouse name.

English Brown Ale Vs American Brown Ale | Community
Dec 29, 2013 · The principle difference is the sort of hops used. An English Brown Ale will feature British hops (e.g., East Kent Goldings) while an American Brown Ale will tend to feature American hops (e.g., Cascade hops). I personally enjoy both of these sub-styles. It seems to me that among the beer geek crowd (e.g., BAs) Brown Ales are not a very popular ...
