The hive is affordable and it does offer the capability of all the advanced manipulations available to Langstroth and other framed hive types. I build mine out of 2x10. went with 9 1/4 for my box so I didn't have to cut the one inch off. butt joint, glued nailed then drilled and put three, three inches long 3/8 dowels (pegs) in each side. went with 3/8 by 5/8 rebate for I am making frames for mine.
