The Centaur Mk2 of 1978, a 2+2 version, was developed, but the project passed to Mirage as the Pulsar. Only one larger Centaur was built: the Timera. It had a midmounted Leyland Maxi 2.2 engine, and a complex multi-tubular chassis (designed by Frank Costin) with de-dion rear suspension lay-out.

The Cromwell and Centaur tanks differed in the engine used; the Centaur had the 410 hp Liberty engine, the Cromwell had the significantly more powerful 600 hp Meteor; Centaur hulls were converted to Cromwells by changing the engine.

The Concept Centaur GT was a kit car first built by Concept Cars Ltd of Middleton, Leicestershire, in 1973 and marketed from 1974 to 1977. The design was very much influenced by the Probe 15 from Adams Probe Motor .

Centauro is powered by an Iveco V6 turbo-charged after-cooled diesel engine delivering 520 hp (382.4 kW). This drives a ZF -designed automatic transmission, which is manufactured under license by Iveco Fiat. The transmission system has five forward and two reverse gears.

The Centaur and the Cromwell are narrowly related. In fact, both are derived from the Centaur I, the A24 cruiser Mark VII. In 1942, the A27L was named "Cromwell II" and, afterwards, Centaur.

The Centaur Mk2 is now the Aamon Battleship; The Argon Manticore Frigate is now the Enenra Frigate. The Kea Gunboat is renamed to the Egret Gunboat. This is so that it doesn't conflict with the Kea in Axesface's Mod; The ATF Valkyrie is now the Freyr; The Xenon R is now the Xenon J as the R already exists in the Rise of the Ossian Raider mod
