Galerie du Monde is pleased to present “Cheung Yee – The Early Years”, a solo exhibition of pioneering sculptor Cheung Yee, featuring his most iconic paper castings, bronze relief, wood, stone and bronze sculptures made from the 1960s to the 1990s.

Jan 2, 2020 · The Chinese artist Cheung Yee, a pioneer of the contemporary art scene in Hong Kong, died in Los Angeles on December 4 at the age of eighty-three. The Hong Kong Museum of Art confirmed his passing.

Cheung Yee was a seminal figure in the development of contemporary art in Hong Kong. Renowned for his innovative use of materials and his unique blend of Eastern and Western aesthetics, Yee’s work is characterized by a profound exploration of cultural identity and philosophical concepts.

Dec 6, 2019 · Mr Cheung Yee was an internationally recognised Hong Kong artist and a pioneer of Hong Kong modern sculptures. In 1964, he co-founded the Circle Group with peer artists, a group of pioneers in pursuit of innovation in Hong Kong modern art.

This exhibition showcases newly-acquired works for the Ashmolean by the Hong Kong artist Cheung Yee (1936–2019). It will be the first substantial display of his work outside Hong Kong, including sculpture and works on paper.

iPRECIATION pays tribute to Cheung Yee (b. 1936 – d. 2019), a master of our time through an exhibition titled The Art of Cheung Yee. The exhibition features captivating artworks produced between 1964 and 2008, showcasing Cheung’s multifaceted and distinctive styles.
