Because of the COVID-19 public health emergency, some customers who previously were required to renew in person may now be able to renew online to receive a license good for two years. Renew Soon! We encourage you to renew your CDL, license or ID by the expiration date.

Most Virginia driver’s licenses last for eight years. When those eight years nearly complete, it’s time to renew. You can renew online, by mail or in person as early as ONE year before your license expires.

Need to Visit DMV? Most services can be conducted online or by mail, but if you need to visit us in person, make an appointment, reserve your spot or walk in for service. Appointments : Available Monday through Friday
