New Market (Bengali: নিউ মার্কেট) is the largest commercial shopping market in Bangladesh in north of Azimpur, Dhaka. [1] . It is situated on the opposite side of Chandni Chowk. The market was set up 1954 as a shopping complex, to cater to the needs of the people from the residential areas of University of Dhaka, Azimpur, Ramna and Dhanmondi. [1]

This is probably the most popular place for shopping for the people of Dhaka. A very good shopping market where you can find jewelries, bags, clothes, stationary items, bed sheets, pillows - almost all the items you need. The place is very crowded. Things you find here are cheaper than other places but you have to bargain a lot.
