Jul 6, 2023 · The M14 style rifles, reminiscent of the M1 Garand, are accurate and reliable and easy to work on but a bit tough to clean in comparison to the HK and FN's. USGI parts were cheap and plentiful and I stocked up on them.

Oct 31, 2005 · Mostly personal preference. I think the M14/FAL are better bayonet platforms than G-3... Sights: #1 - M14 (IMHO the best sight picture and click adjustment of the 3) #2 - FAL #3 - G-3 Accuracy: #1 - M14 (hands down; the M21 variant just opens the gap even more).

Jan 5, 2010 · Both the M14 and FAL are excellent battle weapons. I have shot both extensively and used both in military service. The major difference as far as military use is the FAL has an adjustable gas system and the individual soldier had better know how to work it.. the M14 system needs no adjustment.

Aug 15, 2012 · IF you want a gun that is heavy and built to last a lifetime, get the M-14. However, start lifting weights and try carrying it for about a 30 minute hike and you will see why the M-14 will last a lifetime, it is heavy duty built, but you pay for it in weight.

Jul 22, 2013 · You can get about 5 G3 mags for every 1 FAL or M14 Mag. Not to mention the weight difference between them. Weight of the mags + rifle, ergonomics/controls, (imho) better optics options, and easier modernization via aftermarket parts/accessories is why I put the G3/HK91 at the top on my list.

Jun 30, 2007 · In my opinion, the M14 is a better target rifle "out of the box" while the G3 is a better battle/military rifle. The M14 has a better trigger(without much work) and better iron sights. The G3 is far more rugged and easier to maintain.

Jan 12, 2023 · THE two principal rifles used by members of NATO during the Cold War were the FN FAL and the H&K G3. The USA was the exception, as it used the M14. Although the rifles never fought against the Warsaw Pact, they did see some use by NATO members in colonial wars and by non- NATO members in other conflicts.

Jul 13, 2024 · FAL hands down as a SHTF MBR. Have carried, used and shot a good bit all three over the last 38 years. In original form SHTF battle rifle- no doubt the FAL, the gas system is in a different league, they just work. Love the M14 for its accuracy and the G3 is a fine rifle.
