Jul 19, 2015 · Yes, you can do that. Madness functions any time you discard the card, not just during each of your cleanup steps. Note that madness doesn't instruct you to put the card onto the battlefield. You have to actually cast it, so it can be countered by things like Cancel. It's just that the cost of casting the spell is different.

After this if something should have triggered (Madness in this case) it will be resolved like normal and use the stack.
