The Engesa EE-T1 Osório was a Brazilian main battle tank prototype developed by Engesa. The tank was intended to be sold first to Arab and other Third World countries, jump-starting production — and enabling the Brazilian Army to later place its own orders without having to fund development costs.

The Osorio featured a laser rangefinder, thermal imaging sight with magnification for the gunner stabilized by SFIM, 6-periscopes cupola for the commander with its own IR sight, plus a modern Fire Control System with a laser range finder and digital ballistic computer.

The Brazilian EE-T1/T2 Osório Main Battle Tank was Brazils attempt at indigenous and self-reliant MBT production by the Brazilian company, Engesa who had had some success in production since it’s entrance into the arms industry in 1963.

Design of a new main battle tank began in 1982 and continued in 1986, codenamed EE-T1 "Osorio". It became a conventional combat design by modern Western standards, with an operating weight of 43 tons, a crew of 4, and a main gun with a 120mm smoothbore.

"Osorio" has good speed and cross-country performance. It reaches 30 km/h in 10 seconds. It manages 30º slopes, 3 m wide trenches, 1.15 m vertical step. Without preparation it fords 1.2 m water obstacles. Main battle tank is fitted with automatic fire-extinguishing system in combat and engine-transmission compartments.
