Aberdeen SANDS supports anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby before, during or shortly after birth. We offer emotional support and information for parents, grandparents, siblings, children, families and friends, health professionals and others.

Aberdeen SANDS was set up over 20 years and is managed by a committee of volunteers, the majority being bereaved parents. We receive no statutory funding and are totally reliant on donations.

The helpline offers confidential one-to one telephone support by an experienced Befriender and is available for parents, families and healthcare professionals. Befrienders are people whose baby has also died, so they know what you are going through.

Aug 27, 2024 · Aberdeen Sands is part of Sands’ UK-wide network of over 90 local support Groups, usually run by bereaved parents and family members, offering anyone affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby to meet others, gain support and share their experience.

Sands is a UK charity that works across the country to support anyone affected by the death of a baby; improve the care bereaved parents receive from health care and other professionals; and reduce the number of babies who do die by funding research and working closely with other organisations to create a world where fewer babies die.
