The Sentinels are a group of mutant -hunting robots appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are typically depicted as antagonists to the X-Men. The Sentinels played a large role in several X-Men animated series, and have been featured in several X-Men video games.

The Sentinels are voiced by David Fox on X-Men and are voiced by Eric Bauza on X-Men '97. The Sentinels were chosen for the series' first villain for two reasons. First, they were the perfect embodiment of human over-reaction to the discovery of mutants.

Master Mold is an enormous robot designed to create Sentinels to hunt mutants. A master Sentinel created by Trask, Master Mold is able to create thousands of Sentinels at will. After he realised that humans and mutants are the same, he began his quest to eliminate all of them.

The X-Sentinels confused the newer X-Men to such a degree that they were ending up thrashed, but then Wolverine discovered that these impostors were not human and ripped up the Jean Grey lookalike, exposing their true nature.

Sentinels were first created by Bolivar Trask and Henry Peter Gyrich to track and capture mutants, in the hopes of ridding the world of them. It was a Sentinel that apparently killed the X-Man, Morph and managed to capture both Beast and Jubilee. The X-Men later recued Jubilee and destroyed the factory where the Sentinels were being produced.
